INTERPRAEVENT Activities

One of the tasks of INTERPRAEVENT is to plan and conduct international interdisciplinary events. Up to now, 15 international congresses have been organized on the topic of preventive protection against natural hazards.

These congresses take place regularly, every 4 years, in different regions of Europe and are attended by over 400 experts from well over 20 nations.

Besides the large congresses, INTERPRAEVENT also offers specialist seminars, which are always organized and financed together with local institutions. Furthermore local events are also financially supported.

Reports or seminar documents from different meetings and specialist seminars have been compiled. Furthermore, handbooks (e.g. DOMODIS – Documentation of Mountain Disasters, published 2002) represent important result of international cooperations.

Every four years those who are responsible for the subject of natural hazards meet for high-level talks. This meeting - the so called INTERPRAEVENT Summit - serves the counselling preparation for political decisions in the prevention of natural hazards.
